Happy New Year

The person who has God’s approval will live by faith. But if he turns back, I will not be pleased with him.”
Hebrews 10:38 (GWT)

At the beginning of a New Year, some people make resolutions before doing that, consider that some studies show that resolutions usually last on average for only 6 weeks. Instead of making resolutions for this year, consider establishing goals and writing them down.

Then the LORD said to me, “Write my answer plainly on tablets, so that a runner can carry the correct message to others Habakkuk 2:2 NLT

When you have your goals written as your personal Recovery Vision Statement it will become a tool that can be used to help you manage your life, provide direction and hold you accountable for the choices you make about your career, life, and family.

During recovery is it suggested to established at least four main goals. The FIRST and most important goal is having a relationship with God. SECOND is obtaining sobriety or maintaining sobriety by avoiding people, places and things that are relapse triggers. THIRD beginning to repair your relationships with family, friends, and other loved ones FOURTH begin to obtain/maintain stability in other aspects of their lives such as housing, employment, and self-care.
Goal setting is an important tool that will keep you motivated and moving in a positive and healthy directions

The primary purpose of writing our Recovery Vision Statement down, is so that it is not easily forgotten by looking at it on a regular basis. Additionally, by writing it down we can walk forward, keep track of your accomplishments and reward success. When goals are achieved not only are we positively affected, but many other people’s lives are changed for the better. How does it happened by writing our vision down and ran with them.

Father in the name of Jesus, thank you for waking me up this morning. Thank you, for giving me life and strength. You watched over me all through the night, you never sleep nor slumber, I thank you Lord. Lord I ask for forgiveness of sin, all my mistakes I pray you have mercy. Help me to forgive others too. According to Isaiah 43:18 (GNT) help me Lord to not cling to the events of the past or dwell on what happened long ago. Draw me closer to you and nothing shall separate me from your love today. God help me to achieve my goals and let them be in line with your plans. Please do not let me grow weary of doing good for we know that in due season we will reap if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9 (ESV) If there is adjustment you would love me to make, God do not hesitate to let me know so that I will not waste my time chasing something that is not your will, let your will be done. Amen.
